Guide for CAs and their clients

Enable GST API access on the GST portal

One setting, two minutes, once per duration you choose. It's what lets approved software pull GSTR-2B and file on the account instead of someone retyping everything.

How to enable GST API access on the GST portal (step by step) · 0:28 · Watch on YouTube

The steps

  1. Sign in at gst.gov.in with the taxpayer's username and password.
  2. Click the name at the top right and open My Profile.
  3. In the Quick Links panel, open Manage API Access.
  4. Set Enable API Request to Yes, choose a duration between 6 hours and 30 days, and Confirm.
  5. When your software connects, the portal sends an OTP to the registered mobile and email. Enter it once per session.

What it changes

With API access on, a GSP-connected application such as AawazAI for CAs can fetch GSTR-2B and the taxpayer's ledgers and, when the CA presses Confirm & File, submit the return. Nothing happens without the session OTP, and the toggle can be switched off from the same screen at any time.

Questions

About API access

Is enabling API access safe?

It lets GSP-connected software act on your GST account for the duration you choose, using an OTP you receive at each session start. You can switch it off any time from the same screen. Only enable it for software you have chosen to use.

How long should I set the duration for?

The portal offers 6 hours to 30 days. For a CA who files for you every month, 30 days means one OTP per filing cycle instead of one every session.

Do I need this for the AawazAI business app?

No. The business app prepares your GSTR summaries and JSON without touching your portal account. API access matters for AawazAI for CAs, where the workspace pulls GSTR-2B and files with the CA's or client's credentials.
