The short version
- It fits best where the owner does the recording and does not know accounting.
- It is the wrong choice where several people need custom roles and permissions, for deep audit tooling, and where the connection is unreliable.
- It never files a GST return. If you want software that files for you, this is not it.
- Nothing is written to your books without you confirming it, which some people want and some find slow.
- Your data leaves with you: export and deletion are both in the app.
Where it fits
Strongest case, in order:
- The owner does the recording. No bookkeeper, no accounts person, just you and whatever time is left over.
- You do not know accounting and do not plan to learn it. You describe what happened; the double entry is the app's problem.
- You think in Hinglish, Hindi, Kannada or Telugu. The whole app follows one language, not just the chat.
- Udhaar is a real part of your business. Who owes what, since when, and what was actually collected.
- Your bills arrive as paper on a counter. Photograph it and confirm a card.
- You have a CA and want to stop being the bottleneck. Registers, GSTR-1 portal JSON and GSTR-3B and GSTR-9 summaries come out ready.
Where it does not
These are the cases where we would point you elsewhere:
| If you need | Why not us | Look at |
|---|---|---|
| Team logins and roles | Branches and several GSTINs are supported, and team access has two fixed roles, Accountant and CA, invited by phone in Settings > Team. Custom roles are not built | Established desktop accounting software, or an ERP |
| Deep audit tooling | Every write is logged and corrections are reversals, but the exception reports and drill-down an auditor expects are not there | Established desktop accounting software |
| To work through long outages | Understanding what you said needs a connection | Desktop software that runs locally |
| Payroll, production planning, job work | Not built. A manufacturer's purchases, sales, stock and GST are covered; bills of materials and production runs are not | An ERP |
| Software that files your return | It never files. It prepares what a CA files from | Your CA, or a filing service |
Things it deliberately does not do
These are choices, not gaps, and some people will dislike them:
- It will not write anything you have not confirmed. Every entry is a card you approve. If you wanted bookkeeping that happens invisibly in the background, this will feel slow, and it is meant to.
- It does not edit history. A correction is a reversal and a fresh entry, so the books show what happened and what fixed it. Tidier than that would be less honest.
- It does not do the arithmetic in the language model. Every figure is computed in code. The model works out what you meant; it does not add up.
- It does not file. Said three times on this page on purpose, because the category is full of wording that implies otherwise.
What happens as you grow
A second branch or a second GSTIN does not mean a new app: several branches and registrations sit under one business, and each bill is stamped with the right one. Your CA gets the same documents either way.
The real ceiling today is people, not size. Team access has two fixed roles, invited by phone in Settings > Team: an Accountant records entries, a CA reads the books and asks questions. Custom roles are not built, so if you need finer permissions, that is a gap and we would rather name it than have you discover it.
Leaving
Export and account deletion are both in the app. Your books are yours, and the test of that claim is whether you can take them and go without asking anybody. You can.
Decide with one day's data
If you are on the yes side of this page, the quickest test is one day of real sales. If you are on the no side, we would rather you knew now.
Frequently asked questions
Who is AawazAI not for?
Businesses that need custom roles beyond the two fixed team roles, businesses that need deep audit tooling like exception reports and drill-down, anyone working through long connection outages, and anyone who needs payroll, production planning or job work. Established desktop accounting software or an ERP is the better answer in those cases.
Does it file my GST return?
No. It prepares the documents and figures a return is filed from: the GSTR-1 portal JSON, the GSTR-3B and GSTR-9 summaries, and the sales and purchase registers. A chartered accountant files, with their own credentials.
Do I need to know accounting?
No, and that is the point. You describe what happened and the double entry is handled underneath, in a ledger where debit must equal credit, enforced by the database rather than by application code.
What if I outgrow it?
Growing in size, branches or GSTINs is covered. Team access has two fixed roles, Accountant (records entries) and CA (reads the books and asks questions); where you may outgrow it is custom roles, which are not built. Export is in the app, so leaving does not require asking anyone.
Can I try it without paying?
Yes. Sign-up grants an opening token balance, and viewing books, manual entry, invoices from the invoice screen and reports never cost tokens.
Is my data used for anything else?
Your books are yours, and export and deletion are both available from inside the app.
