Careers
Own a whole problem, not a ticket.
A small, remote-friendly team building the system of record for how businesses describe their trade. The work is unusually concrete: someone describes a transaction, and the books have to be right.
What it is like here
The product has a property that makes engineering here different from most artificial intelligence work: it can be wrong in ways that cost a real business real money and real penalties, and an auditor may ask about it years later. That constraint shapes everything. We write things down, we make the system explain itself, and we do not ship a clever thing we cannot defend.
The team is deliberately small and the surface area is large, so people own whole problems rather than tickets. If you want to work on a narrow slice of a mature system, this is the wrong place. If you want to own the reconciliation engine, the tax computation engine, or the language stack for a market, this is a good one.
We hire for judgement over credentials, and we read work samples more carefully than we read degrees.
Open roles
Roles we are actively hiring for. Each one links to a full description.
Senior backend engineer, ledger
Python and PostgreSQL. Own the double-entry write path and the tax computation engine. Remote.
Machine learning engineer, document extraction
Vision and language models applied to supplier bills, receipts and bank statements, where the input is a photograph taken in bad light. Remote.
NLP engineer, multilingual
Parsing free-text transactions across several languages and the code-mixed text business owners actually use. Remote.
Qualified accountant, product
Sit between the statute and the engineers. Decide what correct means before anyone writes code. Practice experience with indirect tax and statutory reporting.
Customer success, accounting firms
Onboard firms and their clients in their own language, and carry what they tell you back into the product. Remote, with travel.
Nothing here that fits? Write to admin@aawazai.com and tell us what you would want to own.
How we hire
Four steps, usually inside two weeks. We tell you where you stand at each one.
A short written exchange
You tell us what you have built and why you made the choices you made. No cover letter theatre.
A conversation about your work
Forty-five minutes on something you actually built, in enough depth that we both learn something.
A paid work sample
A real problem from our backlog, scoped to a few hours, paid at your rate. We do not ask people to work for free.
Meet the founders
Parmeshwr and Ajay, together, on what you would own and how the company is actually doing.
